November 2010 Election Results

I have gone looking at all the county results. From what I have seen these are the election results for SD 17.

State Senator Joan Huffman was re-elected with 83.16% of the vote.

Harris County Republicans won all county wide offices on the ballot.

Ft Bend County Republicans won all county wide offices on the ballot.

Republicans took Galveston County for the first time since Reconstruction winning all county wide offices on the ballot.

Brazoria County Republicans won all county wide offices on the ballot.

Republicans in Jefferson County won the County wide offices where there was a Republican on the ballot. Several races had no Republican running. 

It was the perfect storm for Republicans. Many of you worked very hard in local campaigns, block walking, phone calling, stuffing envelopes, placing yard signs and more. The effort paid off. Now, it is all of our jobs to hold these elected officials to our conservative principles. Stay in touch with them. Let them know what you think about the issues they will be voting on. If they do not hear from us, they will only hear from lobbyists. Our side has been handed power. To keep our Liberty, we must stay involved. 

Former Secretary of State James Baker once said, "Someone asked me what was the most important thing I had learned since being in Washington. I replied that it was the fact that temporal power is fleeting." Baker went on to observe that once driving through the White House gates he saw a man walking alone on Pennsylvania Avenue and recognized him as having been Secretary of State in a previous administration. "There he was alone - no reporters, no security, no adoring public, no trappings of power. Just one solitary man alone with his thoughts. And that mental picture continually serves to remind me of the impermanence of power and the impermanence of place." (from USNewsLink.com) 

Be involved in your county party. Attend all meetings. Volunteer. Work to resolve internal disputes. Talk to each other. Let's build on this election. Congratulations to all for a job well done. 

Now it is on to victory in 2012!
