Candidate for County Chair

My wife, Megg, and I married in 1983 and at the next election, the Republican election judge invited me to a meeting at his house. He said he would have some candidates there and BBQ. I went to that meeting. I met some judge candidates and Republican neighbors. He asked if I wanted to work as a clerk at the next election. I said yes and I have been involved ever since.

Currently, I am the County Chair elected by the County Executive Committee (CEC) to fulfill the unexpired term of the previous chair. I am running in the March 5 Republican Primary for a full two-year term. Gillespie County has approximately 21,000 voters of which about 80% vote Republican. That means we could potentially turn out 16,800 voters in November 2024. In the last few elections, we have been several thousand voters short of that goal. At a recent meeting of the CEC, I presented a plan I called a BHAG, a big hairy audacious goal, which is to see how close to that 16,800 voter goal we can get in November 2024. I am asking for your vote on March 5 to keep that BHAG alive and on track. Below is my political resume. My views on the issues of the day are on this website, which I have maintained for many years.

My ancestors, Johann George Fritz and Catherine Becker Phillips Fritz, and their five children came to Fredericksburg on Founders’ Day, May 8, 1846. The parents and a newborn died in June 1850, and the children were adopted by five separate families. My ancestor, Heinrich (Henry) Fritz was raised elsewhere, so I did not grow up in Fredericksburg. We bought a house here in 2014 and in 2020, we retired and moved here full time. I was a public high school teacher in Katy, Texas.
